(posted 2019-07-13 15:48:59.8) FYI, Feedback On listing for this page lists only a few items on this page, LMR/SMR/etc are not on the feedback list when writing feedback.
Fast-Change Lens Tube Filter Holders do not work very well to hold a bandpass filter because of how the filter is supported and clamped. It's very easy to touch the filter and put it in at an angle that's not perpendicular to the optical axis. It's got nothing to do with thickness of the filter, it's the fact that only 40% of the circumference is supported and it's supported with a weak grip. llamb
(posted 2019-07-16 01:47:20.0) Thank you for your feedback. We will update the feedback web tool accordingly. I have also passed this feedback along to our mechanics team for looking to improve the Fast-Change Lens Tube Filter Holders. cdaly
(posted 2012-11-30 16:24:35.09) Response from Chris at Thorlabs: Thank you for using our feedback feature. We are unable to provide 2010 SolidWorks files directly as the version we use for design (2012) restricts us from creating backwards compatible files, but we do have Step files available for download as well. These files can be opened in SolidWorks 2010 and then saved as an .sldprt file, which will give you the format you require. xiaoqiang026403
(posted 2012-11-29 02:38:13.423) I use SolidWorks 2010,but some of your products' Drawing and Documents (SolidWorks) are opened by SolidWorks 2012. Could you send me the SMR1/M SolidWorks Documents in version 2010? |
The LMR1(/M) Fixed Optic Mount is a convenient way to mount Ø1" optics on TR Series posts using the 8-32 (M4) tapped hole on the base of the mount. Each LMR1(/M) mount has an internally SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) hole equipped with a back-edge lip on which the optic rests. The SM1 retaining ring (SM1RR) included with each mount can be used to secure the optic in place by sandwiching the optic between itself and the back lip. As an alternative to the included SM1RR retaining ring, the SM1LTRR retaining ring for stress-free mounting can be purchased separately. This fixed optic mount is also used to hold other optical components with external SM1 threads.
The LMR1(/M) is available both individually and in 5 packs for ordering convenience. Each mount in the LMR1(/M)-P5 5 pack also includes its own SM1RR retaining ring.
- Internal SM1 (1.035"-40) Threads

- SM1-Threaded (1.035"-40) Mounting Carriage for Ø1" (Ø25.4 mm) Optics
- One Retaining Ring (SM1RR) Included
- Magnetically Coupled Removable Mounting Carriage
- 8-32 (M4) Tapped Hole on Back Plate for Post Mounting
- Ideal for Use with Lenses, Filters, Apertures, and Other Optics
The KB1P(/M) is an SM1-threaded lens mount with a magnetically coupled removable mounting carriage. This mount is designed for applications that require a Ø1" (Ø25.4 mm) optical element, such as a lens, to be periodically inserted and removed from an optical setup with a high degree of precision. The magnetically coupled mounting carriage eliminates the need to align the optic when it is reinserted into the setup. For stability, precision, and repeatability, the mounting carriage contacts the back plate at three points. Each point of contact is a ball bearing on the mounting carriage resting in the groove formed by two parallel steel pins. The coupling force is provided by pairs of rare earth magnets.
The mounting carriage and back plate can also be purchased separately as the KB1F(/M) and KB1B(/M), respectively. The KB1B(/M) features an 8-32 (M4) tapped hole for post mounting.
- LM1-A Optic Carriage Nests within LM1-B Mounting Ring
- LM1-A Carriage Laser Engraved Every 2°
- Mounts Ø1" (Ø25.4 mm) up to 0.38" (9.6 mm) Thick
These nested lens mount sets are comprised of an inner optic carriage and an outer mounting ring (sold separately). This allows easy exchange of optics while maintaining optical alignment. The LM1-A inner carriage is radially laser engraved with graduation marks every 2° and labeled every 20°. The LM1-A carriage accepts Ø1" (25 mm) optics up to a thickness of 0.38" (9.6 mm) into its SM1 (1.035"-40) threaded bore. The mating LM1-B positionally locks the LM1-A with a top-located thumbscrew and is post mountable via a bottom 8-32 (M4) tapped hole. Each LM1-A includes one SM1RR retaining ring for fastening optics within the SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) bore.

The NX1N(/M) Indexing Mount can hold an optic at any one of 16 positions, including 45° and 90°.
- Indexed with 16 Positions at 22.5° Increments
- Holds Ø1" Optics up to 7 mm (0.27") Thick
- Three 8-32 (M4) Mounting Holes in Bottom Plate
- Easy, Repeatable Exchange of Optical Components
The NX1N(/M) Indexing Mount for Ø1" optics features 16 indexed positions every 22.5°, allowing the optic to be held at both 45° and 90°. This mount is ideal for redirecting a laser to multiple targets on an optical table, and its angular positions are engraved on the base plate for fast alignment. The top plate returns to any given position, indicated with the engraved witness line, with a high repeatability. During angular repeatability testing, we obtained a mean of 10.6 µrad, a minimum of 0.38 µrad, and a maximum of 140.50 µrad. For information about testing done on the repeatability of the NX1N and other kinematic bases, please see the Repeatability tab.
The included SM1 (1.035"-40) retaining ring (SM1RR) secures the optic against the front lip of the mount. This indexing mount can hold optics that are no greater than 7 mm (0.27") thick. Neodymium iron magnets couple the top and bottom plates, while stainless steel ball bearings and V-grooves provide the 16 indexed positions. Three 8-32 (M4) tapped mounting holes in the bottom plate allow the mount to be secured to a Ø1/2" post. A small through hole, located directly under the 90° engraving on the bottom plate, accepts a 5/64" (2.00 mm) balldriver to help provide enough torque when attaching the mount to the post.
Please Note: The top plate of this indexing mount is compatible with the bottom plate of the NX1NF (NX1NF/M) 16-position, indexing mounting base.

The Filter Carriages (SM1QTU shown above) are laser engraved to indicate how to install the filter.
- Exchange Mounted Filters in an Optomechanical Setup Without Disassembly
- SM1QU Accepts Ø1" and Ø25 mm Unmounted Filters
- SM1QP Accepts Ø1" and Ø25 mm Mounted Filters
- Filter Secured via Spring-Loaded Clamp
- One Internally and One Externally SM1-Threaded End for Stackable SM1 Lens Tube Construction
- Included Lock Nut Allows the User to Select a Specific Rotational Orientation
- Filter Carriages and Slotted Lens Tube also Sold Separately
Thorlabs' Fast-Change Lens Tube Filter Holders allow Ø1" and Ø25 mm filters to be quickly exchanged within an experimental setup without disassembling connected lens tubes. These holders are comprised of two pieces: a filter carriage and a slotted lens tube, which are magnetically coupled to each other, enabling fast insertion and removal.
To install a filter in the carriage, first separate the filter carriage from the slotted lens tube by gripping the recessed grooves on either side of the carriage and pulling gently. Slide the top-located stainless steel knob in the direction of the engraved arrows (as shown in the photo above). This opens the spring-loaded clamp located on the underside of the carriage. Insert the filter, pressing it firmly against the underside of the holder, and release the knob.
There are two preconfigured filter holder options: the SM1QU accepts an unmounted filter with a thickness ≤ 3.5 mm, while the SM1QP accepts a mounted filter with a thickness from 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm. The filter holders are 1.02" long with a 1.31" (33.3 mm) outer diameter and a Ø21 mm (Ø0.83") clear aperture. Please note that the clear aperture of the assembly may be further restricted by the filter.
Extra filter carriages are available separately. The SM1QTU carriage (included in the SM1QU) holds an unmounted filter with a thickness ≤ 3.5 mm, while the SM1QT carriage (included in the SM1QP) holds a mounted filter with a thickness from 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm.
The SM1QB extra slotted lens tube, included in both the SM1QU and SM1QP filter holders, is also available separately. The slotted lens tube can accept either filter carriage described above. It features internal SM1 (1.035"-40) threading on one side and external SM1 threading on the other, making it compatible with all of our SM1-threaded components. One included lock nut (item # SM1NT) allows the user to set the rotational orientation of the filter holder at any angle.
We also offer the CFH2(/M) cage plate for filters up to 8.0 mm thick with no minimum thickness.
- Holds Ø1" Filters up to 0.37" (9.4 mm) Thick
- Post and Rod Mounted for Greater Flexibility
- Detent Force at 0º and 90º; Lockable Across Entire Range
- Includes 0.050" Hex Key and SM1RR Retaining Ring
The TRF90 can be post mounted as an individual unit or ER-cage-rod-mounted for stacking filters in a series. Since the depth of the filter mount is 0.5" (13 mm), the minimum length of the ER rod needed when creating a stack of filters is the number of filter mounts being stacked times 0.5" (13 mm). A precision detent mechanism provides holding force at the 0° and 90° positions, while a nylon setscrew allows the mount to be locked.
Please note that the threaded hole used to attach the post to the filter mount goes all the way through to the rotation mechanism. Be sure that no more than 0.2" (5 mm) of the screw on top of the post is threaded into the filter mount in order to prevent the binding of the rotation mechanism.

The DCP1 Cage Mount Snapping into an Existing 30 mm Cage Segment
(Shown Here with ND Filter and CP02F Flexure Plates)
- Easy Insertion and Removal of a Ø1" Optic Within an Assembled 30 mm Cage System
- Flexure Lock Securely Clamps to Cage Rods
- Internal SM1 (1.035"-40) Threads Accept Optics Up to 0.24" (6.1 mm) Thick
- Drop-In Compatibility with SM1L03 Lens Tubes
- Not Post Mountable
- Two SM1RR Retaining Rings Included
The DCP1 Drop-In Cage Mount allows Ø1" optics to be easily inserted into or removed from an assembled 30 mm cage structure. The cage mount features two flexure locks with cap screws that can be tightened using a 5/64" (2 mm) hex key or balldriver. The SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) bore can hold Ø1" optics up to 0.24" (6.1 mm) thick using the included two SM1RR retaining rings. Unlike our other quick-release cage mounts, the DCP1 can be used with optics mounted inside SM1L03 lens tubes. For example, all of our SM1-threaded ND filters can be used with this cage mount. Longer lens tubes will block the cage mount from fitting into the cage system.
The DCP1 cage mount clamps to 30 mm cage rods across a diagonal, rather than to adjacent cage rods. To insert into a cage system, hold the mount diagonally and slide it below one cage rod, as illustrated in the photo to the right. Then twist the mount and snap it onto the cage rods before tightening the flexure clamp cap screws.
- Internal SM1 (1.035"-40) Threading
- Ideal for use with Our Ø1" Lens Tubes and SM1-Threaded Photodiodes
- 18.0 mm Optical Axis Height
The HCS031 mount integrates our extensive line of SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) components into our flexure stage systems. Due to the diameter of the SM1 threading, the optical axis of the HCS031 mount is 18.0 mm above the flexure stage.
Due to the higher optical axis, a 5.5 mm Height Adjustment Shim (AMA093) will be required for all mounts with an optical axis of 12.5 mm when used in conjunction with the HCS031.
